Pallet Planter Box

I have a very cute little garden space that last year I tried in vain to grow vegetables in but it was as it doesn’t get a lot of sun my poor little seedlings were doomed from the beginning so this summer I wanted to make use of the sunny spot in the garden which is the side of the garage. As I am in a rental property I didn’t want to make anything permanent or expensive so this pallet planter worked great and can be taken out easily too.
With the gradient of the slope and overhanging of the garage roof I was able to fit 2 pallets long and one pallet wide.
1. I found pallets that were the thinker stringer kind and stood one up on the end of the garden. This would be my highest point.
2. I stood the next pallet up going up the hill and used a level and chalk line to mark a line along the nice
‘top’ side (or side with more wood panels if that makes more sense?) of the pallet as that nice side was facing inward. Level from where it will join the end pallet.
3. I then used a skill saw to cut along the chalk line. The angle you cut should fit roughly to the ground so when its turned around and the nice side is facing outward it should be the same height and level with the end pallet.

4. Keep doing this with the other pallets. Using the chalk line and level to find the line to cut on the nicer side of the pallet with the pallet facing inward. I used 4 pallets to make my long sides of the rectangle planter. This way its standing alone and not supported by the garage wall. The pallets on the longer rectangle sides of the planter should be measured so that when they are attached they are inside the width of the end pallet
I used 10x4 inch wood screws wherever the pallets were touching and I could get a crew into. The more the merrier
5. I then cut another pallet down to the height that my two end pallets ended up at to close out the rectangle.
6. With boards from a deconstructed pallet I put them across the width of the planter and as much the same height as I could get them
7. I then put a poly liner in the planter and put a few drainage holes in it
8. then we filled it with dirt and planted my seedlings, ready for the summer sunshine!
